Lemon Cold Brew Tonic Recipe

I’m so excited about the arrival of spring!  Minus the weeds and the allergens that have hit hard here in Dallas {everything is yellow from the pollen!}, everything else about spring delights me: the fields of bluebonnets, the budding trees, the sound of birds in the garden.  It’s such a sweet change after winter.  If you feel just as excited about spring, I have something fun to share this week: a spring ideas tour with some of my favorite bloggers!  We’re sharing spring recipes, mantel decor, tablescapes, porch decor, and more, and you can find sneak peek photos plus all the links by scrolling to the bottom of this post.  But before you do, I’m excited to share one of my newest coffee recipes with you.  This lemon cold brew tonic recipe is a keeper and the perfect way to transition into the spring and summer months!  I’ve been drinking it every day since I first created it and it’ll definitely be my drink of choice this summer.  Ready to see how easy it is to make?

If you’re unsure about a coffee flavored tonic, let me tell you: try it!  A couple of my favorite local coffee shops make seasonal tonics and they’re amazing.  The blend of the cold brew with the acidity of the citrus flavor is an amazing combination.  And it’s all sweetened with a bit of simple syrup for the most amazing iced coffee drink!

To make this lemon cold brew tonic recipe, you’ll need storebought unsweetened cold brew {you can obviously make your own as well but it’s super easy to just buy a bottle of it at the grocery store}, tonic water, sugar, and a fresh lemon.

{Ingredient measurements and full instructions can be found in the printable recipe card further down in this post.}

cold brew tonic ingredients

Before making the tonic, you’ll need to make a batch of simple syrup, combining and heating equal parts sugar and water until the sugar is fully dissolved.  I make a small batch and store it in a mason jar in the fridge so it’s ready any time I want to make a tonic or lemonade.

To mix up the coffee tonic, simply add equal parts cold brew coffee and tonic water in a glass.  {I don’t recommend using regular coffee for this recipe because the flavor won’t be strong enough to parallel the other flavors.}

Add the simple syrup and fresh squeezed lemon juice …

If you’re an iced coffee lover, this cold brew tonic recipe will become a summer favorite.  I’d love to hear what you think … and be sure to check back this summer because I plan to whip up a few other versions!

Lemon Cold Brew Tonic Recipe

Yield: 1 serving
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes

A refreshing, easy to make cold brew tonic recipe with just a few ingredients. The perfect way to enjoy iced coffee during the warmer months.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup storebought cold brew coffee
  • 1/2 cup tonic water
  • 1/2 fresh lemon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Stir sugar and 1/2 cup water together in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. This will create the simple syrup required in step 4. Save the remaining simple syrup in a mason jar in the fridge.
  2. In a glass, combine the cold brew coffee and tonic water.
  3. Add the juice from half a lemon.
  4. Stir in two tablespoons of the simple syrup made in step 1.
  5. Add ice and garnish, if desired.

    This sounds like a refreshing summer drink. I’ve never tried cold brew coffee and your recipe has me wanting to buy a few bottles.

    I’m not a coffee drinker but so many in my family are so I can’t wait to try this one. Both of my girls are fans of iced coffee. I think they’ll love it.
