Graduation Cap Cupcake Toppers

Whether you’re celebrating kindergarten graduation or high school graduation {or anything in between}, cupcakes are a must.  These graduation cap cupcake toppers can be placed on homemade or storebought cupcakes and they take just a few minutes to make.  In fact, you probably have all the needed supplies sitting around the house.

For each cupcake topper, you’ll need one or two caps from a soda bottle or water bottle.  If you use caps from water bottles, you’ll need two because they tend to be really thin.  You’ll also need black construction paper or cardstock and wooden skewers.

Use craft paint to paint the sides of each bottlecap black.  While the paint is drying, cut two inch squares from the black paper {my paper appears patterned in the photo but it’s solid black on the right side}.  Using a hot glue gun, attach a bottlecap to the center of each paper square {glue two bottlecaps together if using thin caps from water bottles}.

Cut wooden skewers into three or four inch pieces and use hot glue {lots of it} to attach it to the center of the bottlecap.  Let the glue dry completely.

Insert a graduation cap cupcake topper into each cupcake and get ready to celebrate your big or little graduate!

These cupcake toppers are so easy to make and the perfect way to repurpose and recycle all those bottlecaps!
