Fall means school … and for all those big kids of ours, fall means college. I like to leave nothing to chance and make sure my kids are fully prepared so I pack up everything the kids might need, including all the essential hygiene items, when my kids are going anywhere. And college will be no different. My kids will have bags and bags of stuff when they head to college. My nephew is going to college this fall and I’ve been mentally planning all the things he needs … and I’m not even in charge! Whether they’re heading to the dorm or not, this DIY shaving kit with DIY shaving cream is a fun gift for your favorite guy … and, like everything you see on this site, it’s so easy to make {we love simple, right?}!
I made a trip to Kroger to grab some razors …
… and decided to buy Schick Hydro 5 disposable razors.
I love the idea of a razor that contains hydrating gels and skin guards to reduce friction on the skin.
The sleek design …
… and five blades make this Schick razor a perfect choice for a smooth, close shave.
Razors and shaving cream go hand in hand and I decided to make natural DIY shaving cream. To make a batch, you’ll need 1/2 cup shea butter, 1/2 cup coconut oil, 1/4 cup olive oil, and your choice of essential oils. {I love the scent of spearmint and eucalyptus together.}
In a saucepan over low heat, melt the coconut oil and shea butter together. When fully melted, remove from the heat and stir in the olive oil and 10-20 drops of essential oils. Place the mixture in the refrigerator until hardened then, using an electric mixer, whip until fluffy.
Put the shaving cream in a mason jar or other container …
… add a piece of scrapbook paper to the lid, and package it in a basket or bucket along with a razor or two and a washcloth.
This DIY shaving kit makes a great gift for a college-bound student {package the shaving cream with a woman’s razor for a girl} or any men in your life!
