This baked Philly cheesesteak recipe was created as part of a sponsored post for Pillsbury™. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Confession: I’ve never even been to Philly. But I have had a pretty good Philly cheesesteak and I decided it definitely qualified me to create my own version of this popular meal {smile}. Creating my own version usually means I want something quick, easy, and delicious and this baked Philly cheesesteak recipe is all three. With layers of savory flavors sandwiched between buttery Pillsbury™ Refrigerated Original Crescent Rolls, this recipe is one to pin for all your spring entertaining!
To make this easy recipe, you’ll need to head to Walmart to buy
Two 8 ounce packages of Pillsbury™ Refrigerated Original Crescent Rolls
2 green peppers
1 onion
1 tablespoon butter
8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
6 ounces sliced provolone cheese, and
14-16 ounces thinly sliced deli roast beef or lunch meat.
Thinly slice the onions and green peppers then melt the butter in a pan on the stovetop and saute the peppers and onions over medium to medium-high heat until they’re golden and tender.
While the vegetables are cooking, lightly spray a 9×13 pan with cooking spray then unroll one package of Pillsbury™ Refrigerated Original Crescent Rolls and lay them in the bottom of the pan. Press the seams together.
Place a layer of provolone cheese slices on top of the crescent rolls …
… then add the chopped roast beef …
… the sauteed peppers and onions …
… and a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.
Top the casserole with the other package of Pillsbury™ Refrigerated Original Crescent Rolls, unrolled. Again, pinch the seams together and stretch slightly to cover the toppings. Don’t worry if you have a bit of space around the edges.
Bake at 350 degrees for 13-15 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Let it sit for five minutes before slicing and serving.
This recipe is simple but so good and it’s perfect for rushed weeknights or spring entertaining, especially when you’re getting a bit tired of the traditional ham dishes. Serve this dish with a side of fresh fruit for a delicious Easter brunch idea! You can even make it a few hours ahead and bake it just before mealtime. Customize it with your favorite fillings or eat it just like this. Either way, this baked Philly cheesesteak recipe will become a family favorite!
Ok this is GENIUS! I can’t wait to try it!
Have you ever used the Pillsbury dough sheets? So much easier and quicker too than pinching together the crescent rolls. Our Wal-mart carries them. Can’t wait to make this. Thanks for sharing your top 10!
I’ve never tried those … that would make it WAY easier! Thanks so much for the suggestion!
That sounds like a great idea Teresa!!! I’m always ready to save time. That would also work on my Gouda Cheese Ball recipe. Thanks for sharing!
