A Zebra Mask {with Duct Tape}

With Halloween right around the corner and costumes on our minds, I decided to make something fun for Tate.  I whipped up a little duct tape zebra mask … and I’ll soon be making more since the twins are asking for some as well.  My little guys love imaginative play and these little masks will make a fun addition to our dress-up box!

To make this little duct tape mask, I used a sheet of zebra print duct tape, a roll of regular bright pink duct tape, and bright pink elastic.

I cut a rectangle shape from the zebra print and backed it with strips of pink …

… then folded it in half and cut out the shape using a little template I drew.  You could cut any shape you want, adding a bit of fancy or keeping it simple.

I intended to make this a no-sew project and attached the elastic on the inside of the mask with pieces of duct tape but ended up sewing a few stitches through the elastic to ensure it’ll stay in place.  Little hands are rarely gentle with dress up items and Ididn’t think a strip of duct tape would hold up for any length of time, especially when the elastic is designed to be pulled around the head.

This little munchkin loves her zebra mask and had fun scaring all her family members.  And I love how stinkin’ cute she looks!
