We had a family dinner last weekend to celebrate my Dad’s 70th birthday and, even though it was just our extended family at the dinner, we added a few personalized 70th birthday party ideas to make it feel like a party!

70th Birthday Party Decorations
I chose black and white as the color theme because I knew I wanted to use old black and white photos on the table. I kept everything quite simple and added some DIY ideas. I’m a big believer that a celebration doesn’t have to be complicated to be great.
70th Birthday Party Centerpiece Idea
I opted for a very simple but striking centerpiece. Because it’s nearly impossible to find large paper mache numbers, I bought paper mache letters at my local craft store and made a small alteration, the same way I did for Eli’s thirteenth birthday.
I used a letter O as a zero and I used a craft knife to cut the bottom off a Z to transform it into a seven. I spray painted the numbers black and stood them in the center of the table.
{A lot of letters can be altered to become numbers, in a pinch, although since this post was first written, paper mache numbers have become much easier to find.}
70th Birthday Party Table Decorations
To decorate the rest of the table, I used old photos.
I borrowed some old photo albums from my parents and made photo copies of old pictures of my Dad, just copying them onto plain white paper.
I framed some in small silver place card frames {the kind used for weddings} and set them around the centerpiece.
I also used the photocopied photos as table confetti. I used paper punches to punch three different sizes of circles and scattered them over a white paper table runner.
I completed the table with black chargers, white plates, and black napkins.
The decor was simple but fun and added a personal touch to our celebration of my Dad’s milestone birthday.

Wow! That looks great. I love how you honored him. Thanks for sharing.
That photo table confetti is awesome!! I absolutely love it. 😀
