I love decorating my mantel for different holidays and occasions, especially Christmas. I like to use our usual holiday decor in different ways and pull in some household items to create something unique that matches my everyday decorating style. This year we have a vintage Christmas mantel: a simply styled mantel with a few fun details, including a gumball machine full of red and silver Christmas ornaments!
I left my vintage window on the mantel and set my handmade wooden cross stitch joy sign in front of it. This simple project is one of my favorite pieces of holiday decor and it lends a bright and homespun touch to the mantel.
I also placed one of my thrifted letterpress drawers on the mantel and filled some of the spaces with small red, silver, and white ornaments and silver bells …
… along with a vintage flash card that says peace …
… and scrabble letters spelling out joy.
My very favorite part of the mantel is my red thrifted gumball machine! I removed the gum and filled it with small red and silver ornaments and bells. I love the festive way it looks and I love the whimsical factor it adds to my Christmas mantel!
Our regular stockings are hanging on our DIY stocking holder and vintage stocking stretchers are hanging from the mantel. I love the way they look! So simple and so unexpected. They were a gift from my Mom a few years ago and I love getting them out of the holiday bins every year.
Our holiday mantel is really simple this year but it’s definitely one of my favorites!
