Since, being twins, Luke and Lila have {so far} always had joint birthday parties, they’ve never been able to have gender-specific themes. I decided it would be fun to let them have their own theme playdates this summer. Lila had her fairy tea a few weeks ago, and Luke had his Lego party playdate today.
We mailed out little invitations in advance of the date {simple cards that hopefully looked like Lego blocks} …
… and the boys arrived ready for some Lego themed fun. They colored some Lego printables {and I so wanted to make Lego-shaped crayons to color them with but I was worried it would forever alter the flavor of my molds} …
… played a game where they had to take turns adding to a Lego/Duplo tower until it toppled {kind of like a Lego-themed Jenga game} …
… had some creative free-play Lego building time …
… and ate simple snacks. I made small Lego-block sandwiches {rectangle sandwiches with circles on top attached with honey or jelly} and served a red drink with Lego-shaped ice cubes {the cubes show much better in colored drinks}.
The boys also had pretzels, chips, and Lego-shaped candies to munch on, all served out of bowls made from Lego and Duplo blocks.
Cupcakes completed the meal at our Lego party and they were topped with Lego chocolates made in my Lego mold {affiliate link} using colored candy melt.
Luke loved having his friends over for some dedicated boy time … and I’ll always jump at the chance to plan a themed activity.
For more Lego themed creative ideas, be sure to check out the simple DIY Lego wall we created in Luke’s room …
… color coded Lego organization …
… and a Lego travel box that’s perfect for taking on road trips or to appointments where the time in the waiting room might get long.

How creative! So many neat details. I saw your picture at Tatertots and Jello. Literally thought you topped cupcakes with the toys (which still is cute). But chocolate!? Adorable!

How did you make the Lego sandwiches?
Randi~Dukes and Duchesses says
The sandwiches were made by cutting the crusts off bread, then cutting that square in half to make rectangles. I cut circles from bread using a small cookie cutter and attached them with a dab of honey.
