The idea of drinking a flower infused beverage might seem odd to some but this lavender latte is definitely worth a try! The first time I tried a similar drink at a local coffee shop, I was sold! The delicate, citrusy flavor of the lavender adds a unique element to this latte and it’s a perfectly, light flavor for the spring and summer months! If you like experimenting with different coffee drinks, this is one to add to your list.
To make this slightly sweet lavender latte, you’ll need to make a batch of lavender simple syrup {click here for the recipe}. You can make a batch and store it in an airtight container in the fridge so you’re ready to make a latte any time.
In a mug or coffee cuff, brew two shots of espresso. If you don’t have an espresso maker, you can substitute 1/4 cup of very strong brewed coffee. Stir two tablespoons of lavender simple syrup into the hot espresso, mixing it well.
Foam 1/3 cup of milk. To do this, you can use the foamer on an espresso machine, a simple hand held foamer {affiliate link}, or warm the milk lightly in the microwave, place it in a jar with a lid, and shake it until it’s foamy. Be very careful opening the jar and face it away from you or anyone else in case it sprays. It’s similar to pureeing hot soup in a blender and you need to take the same precautions.
Slowly pour the warm foamed milk into the espresso …
… add a little lavender garnish {or not} …
… and enjoy this barista style drink at home!
