The coffee game just got a lot stronger at my house! We’re grinding beans, brewing espresso, and making our own barista-style latte drinks, including one of my favorites: a hot Vietnamese latte based on my favorite drink from a local coffee shop. This is the hot version of one of the best {and most popular} coffee posts at Dukes and Duchesses, vietnamese iced coffee!
Two new additions were added to our coffee station this week: a De’Longhi Coffee Grinder and a De’Longhi Red Dedica Espresso Maker! For a girl that loves coffee {and color} as much as I do {and kids and a husband that share that love}, these new machines are a pretty awesome early Christmas gift!
I’ve had a great time brewing espresso and inventing my own coffee bar drinks and I love the ease of both machines. We owned an espresso machine years ago but it was super complicated and we ultimately got rid of it after it did nothing but collect dust. Not so with the De’Longhi Espresso Maker: it’s easy, compact, and is definitely an item for the Christmas list!
Coffee is always better when it’s freshly ground and the De’Longhi Coffee Grinder makes it easy. There’s a receptable that sits on top to hold coffee beans and you can grind only the amount you’re going to use at any one time, letting it collect in the container below.
And if you just want enough for a cup of espresso, the portafilter slides right into the grinder …
… and the machine reads that it’s there, grinding only that amount of coffee.
Then all you have to do is tamp the coffee down …
… and pop the filled portafilter into the Espresso Maker. It’s so easy!
You simply brew the espresso with the touch of a button {I brew two cups to make the Vietnamese latte} …
… and froth 1/4 cup milk with the attached frother. Once the milk is heated to the right temperature and perfectly foamy …
… add two tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk to the hot espresso, stir well …
… and add the foamed milk.
I’m hoping to be able to master some foam art at some point and add cute little hearts to the top of my espresso drinks but that business is harder than it looks!
That’s all there is to it. Just a few simple steps and you’ve got a homemade coffee house drink that’ll rival anything you can get at the local coffee shop!
I’m planning on doing a lot of entertaining this holiday season and I’ll be brewing up lattes and cappuccinos for everyone!
What are you drinking this holiday season?

I used to drink an iced Vietnamese latte all the time! I haven’t tried it hot yet, but it sounds super delicious.
How is the clean up on those pieces? We have a little espresso machine, but it is a chore to clean it. We barely use it to avoid all that work. Yours are definitely more stylish! 🙂
