Phil and I had a sweet, romantic lunch at a table for two this week, something that rarely happens, especially mid-week. The tablescape, the style, and the lunch itself were definitely not our normal style and I thought you’d enjoy seeing this sweet little tablescape.
This book is full of beautiful photos and brilliant inspiration. I couldn’t wait to use some of the tips and ideas to create my own seductive tablescape.
While the four older kids were at school, I put my youngest down for a nap and set a romantic table for two in front of our family room fireplace. Moll recommends using smaller tables so I grabbed our chalkboard table from the gameroom and paired it with cushions instead of chairs, providing an intimate and cozy spot.
… along with a thin vase filled with water and lemon slices.
Since it was the middle of the day, I skipped the wine and served sweet tea {this is the South, after all} …
… but I served it in crystal Tiffany & Co champagne glasses. The crystal really added to the feeling of formality and romance and made our lunch feel special.
In addition to tablescape tips, Moll also shares recipes in her book. Inspired by the layered salad recipes, I layered caesar salad in mason jars for our lunch …
… and served small containers of dressing next to them, along with some fresh rolls.
I had such a great time setting our romantic table for two and it was such fun to sit down for a mid-week lunch with my husband and have a chance to talk and connect and enjoy time together.
