I often get asked how I stay on top of the day to day tasks in our family of seven so I thought I’d share my simple weekly to-do list … and I included two free printable versions that you can use if you’d like.
This not-so-cute-but-extremely-functional list {see below} is what I print and use weekly. It helps if I have a paper copy in front of me rather than an electronic version. I love to be able to cross tasks off as I accomplish them.
I keep my to-do list as an excel file with certain permanent items typed into it {I type various tasks straight across the line separated by a couple of spaces, not one item per line which is why there are only a few lines for each day}. I print my list every Sunday night and then add other tasks and errands as needed. For example, laundry for the oldest members of the family occurs every Monday so that stays as a constant on my list. I wash towels every Tuesday, and I clean out my purse every Wednesday. I know that sounds a bit obsessive but if it’s on a list, I’m much more likely to do it … and staying on top of things is half the battle.
At the beginning of the week, I go through my planner and add in each day’s errands. I schedule when I’ll go grocery shopping, when I plan to go to the bank, and when I’ll mail parcels. It makes it easier for me to see everything in one place.
Under correspondence, I list appointments I need to book, cards I want to send, and forms I need to fill out. Ongoing tasks is a place to keep track of projects I’d like to get done. Again, if I have it in writing, I’m more likely to do it.
If you’d like to try my list method, you can find your free printable here.
Or if you’d like something a bit cuter and more simplified, you can find this printable here.
How do you organize your week? To-do list or no list?
