Junking in Texas

Ford provided me with a vehicle for my junking trip.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Last weekend, I spent the weekend at a lake house with a few girlfriends and, on the way, we did some junking in Texas.  {If you follow me on instagram and twitter, you probably saw some fun sneak peeks along the way!}  We hit a few non-junk shops as well but overall my focus was thrifting, junking, and reclaiming.  And we hit the jackpot along the way!

I drove the Ford Expedition Platinum from Dallas to Spicewood, making a few stops in between and adding in a day trip to Wimberley.

We traveled through Texas in style, enjoying the roomy interior, the stitched leather, and the air-conditioned seats {always a win in Texas!} of the Ford Expedition Platinum.

And the divided cargo space?  Perfect for this type of trip and the treasures we found.

We filled up that space in no time … and it may be the first time that luxury vehicle was loaded down with scraps of reclaimed wood and locker doors {smile}!

Once out of Dallas, we stopped in Waco and wandered through some fabulous shops including Junque in the Trunk, Junky Monkey, and a couple of other places on that same strip.

We found quirky items and true treasures at each place …

… and couldn’t resist bringing some of it home.

If you know anything about Waco, Texas, you know that it’s the home of Chip and Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper fame.  We stopped in at Magnolia, Joanna’s shop.  The shop is small but fabulous and we could have bought one of everything.  The light fixtures had me drooling.  The shop is such a fun snapshot of the amazing style you see on Fixer Upper!

I can’t wait to go back to Waco to visit these same shops again and to see some others that we missed on this trip.

In addition to junking in Waco, we did some shopping in Wimberley, wandering through stores that were full of gorgeous colors and textures, one of a kind pieces …

We had so much fun sifting through the shops and meeting the shop owners and just enjoying the creativity in Wimberley.

Not much is better than a weekend of laughing with the girls and hunting for treasures.

And one final junking stop on our trip: Revival in Spicewood.  Joanna Gaines had recently been there as well and it’s no wonder … it’s such a neat place.  I could have spent a lot of time sifting through the reclaimed lumber in the yard {I did spend a bit of time in the lumber pit and came home with some neat chippy wood pieces}.

I’m ready for a repeat of that entire weekend.  Have you been junking in Texas?  I’d love to hear some of your favorite spots!
