This is a sponsored post for Hometalk and Michaels. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Mark your calendars because I have some fun news for you! On February 16th, 1-4 pm, at all Michaels locations, you can attend a Pinterest Party! Buy supplies in the store and join the party for a great afternoon of crafting! Bloggers will be joining the parties at select locations and I’m completely excited to be co-hosting the event at the Lewisville, Texas location! If you’re local, come join me … I’d love to meet you! {And if you’re not local, check this listing to see if a blogger will be hosting at your location … but either way, save the date!}
You can work on any project you’d like at the Pinterest Party but you’ll find a few in-store displays to inspire you. And I’ll be sharing my chalkboard table decor to bring you a bit of inspiration as well!
Michaels has a fabulous line of chalkboard products and I honestly could have bought one of everything {did you see my shopping trip on instagram?}. I narrowed it down to my favorites and used these products to create some fun decor for a party. The chalkboard look is so popular right now and it’s really easy to add a few DIY touches to a tablescape. Let me show you what I did!
Chalkboard Table Decor
1. A Cutlery Garland
I bought a package of chalkboard cardstock in banner shapes {they come in two different styles}. They’re thick and come with black and white twine, perfect for hanging.
I used hot glue to make pockets from the banner pieces, threaded the twine through, and made a garland to hold cutlery. I love this simple little garland and plan to use it a lot in my summer entertaining {wouldn’t it be cute at a BBQ?}.
A few scribbles with chalk and the guests will know exactly where to find what they need.
2. Menu or Message Boards
Small framed chalkboards are so cute and so versatile.
I added some washi tape around the frame and mitered the corners with a craft knife.
These small chalkboards are perfect for posting a message on the table or for writing out the menu and the washi tape adds a pop of color to the decor. The frames could also be painted in a bright, thematic color or even stained for a classy look.
3. Placecards
Placecards are so simple to make. I added an adhesive chalkboard label to a small pail of candy but it would be adorable stuck onto a piece of fresh fruit {an apple or a pear}, or even placed on the edge of a plate or the side of a cup. The possibilities are endless!
4. Clothespin Drink Markers
These chubby clothespins are so cute and they make perfect drink markers.
Add a name or initials and clip them onto the stem of a wine glass or the edge of a cup for a unique way to keep track of your drink at the party.
5. Gift in a Jar Favor
Regardless of the occasion, a “gift in a jar” is always a fun idea and these whimsical mason jar tags are the perfect addition. I’m a little smitten with them.
Are you inspired?
Then mark the date on your calendar and we’ll see you at Michaels on February 16th! Don’t forget to check the sales and grab your coupons {click the links for US or Canada}.
