I love traditional games and activities that get the kids unplugged and out of the house and summer is the perfect time for the kids to get wet and a little wild. Whether the kiddos are playing with water guns, water balloons, or other squirters, DIY target shirts just add to the fun!
Before you grab the water toys, you’ll need to make target shirts for the participants {it’s best if everyone has a target shirt but for the purposes of these quick photos, only one of my kiddos had one}.
Buy inexpensive shirts at a local big box store or online and use a cutting machine to cut circles out of black iron-on heat transfer. Apply using a heat press or EasyPress {my favorite tool!}.
If you don’t have a cutting machine, don’t worry! You can make equally cute shirts using a Sharpie or fabric paint or markers. Simply trace circles in various sizes onto the shirt then fill them in with black color.
The target can go on the front or back of the shirt {or both}.
Once the shirts are ready, let the kids loose with water guns, squirters, and water balloons …
… and have the towels ready!
The kids can form teams, you could devise a point system, or give prizes for the wettest targets. It would make a fun summer party activity or a great way to spend a summer afternoon with friends.
Kids and water are such a great mix and it’s the perfect way to keep cool on these hot summer days!
And in the colder months? Keep the kids inside, grab the shirts, and let them have Nerf gun wars {with caution, of course}.
