Monogrammed Necktie Coffee Cuff

Silhouette provided the products used for this project.

Father’s Day is quickly approaching and today I have a super quick, super fun gift idea: a monogrammed necktie coffee cuff.  This coffee cuff has one simple stitched line but can also be made in a no-sew version, making it a gift that anyone can give.

To make a monogrammed necktie coffee cuff, you’ll need an old necktie {I bought one at the thrift store for $1.99}, a disposable cup for sizing, heat transfer, and a hook tool.

To make the necktie coffee cuff, wrap the tie around the cup …

… and cut off the thin end, leaving enough extra tie so that the pointed end overlaps by an inch or so.

Pin the ends together with the pointed end on top …

… and stitch a straight line down the length of the cuff, leaving the pointed end to stick out.  To make a no-sew version, you could use fabric glue {or even a glue gun} to attach the pieces together.

A monogram completes the look and adds a personal touch to the coffee cuff.  To make this monogram, I used heat transfer and ironed it on.

Using my Silhouette software and the text option, I made a monogram.  I typed the first and last letter, leaving a large space in between, and then typed a separate letter for the middle and slid it into place.  Does that make sense?  I then used the group command to keep them all together.

When using heat transfer, you have to flip your text to the mirror image …

… so that it looks like this before you cut.

Using a hot iron and a cloth over top, I pressed the letters in place.  Once it had cooled, I peeled the plastic backing off and had a snazzy little monogram.

Isn’t that a fun Father’s Day gift?  And super easy to make, right?  So pop over and order your heat transfer and get monogramming!
