A Knit Football Baby Hat

Someone I love just had the cutest baby boy.  She and her husband also happen to be big football fans so a knit football hat for the baby seemed just right.

I used a Simple Baby Hat pattern from Itty-Bitty Hats {one of my favorite knitting books … if you haven’t heard of it, see the affiliate link below} and modified it to look like a football.  I added three rows of white near the top and bottom and added some football stitch lines to finish it off.  Pulling the decrease stitches tightly on top gave the hat the perfect pointed football end.

I love the way this little hat turned out … now I can’t wait for a chance to snuggle the little one who’ll wear it!

I’m Randi, a wife and stay-at-home mom of five kids, ranging from preschool to high school. I love strong coffee, craft and DIY projects, my planner, my laptop, and my big ol’ family. When I’m not creating something for my blog, I can be found in the car, running kids from one place to another. I’m the one knitting at the red light.
