Hot Cocoa with Friends

Update:  You can watch a video demonstration here to see how to make the cups as well as some fun marshmallow snowmen!

It doesn’t feel much like winter here in Texas but we had a little hot cocoa get together with friends anyway.

Often, the simplest of gatherings are my favorite.  A few planned but simply executed details and time with friends are a lovely combination.

For Monday’s hot cocoa party, simple was the key.

Packages of store bought hot cocoa mix …

… dishes of marshmallows …

… crushed mints …

… and mini chocolate chips …

… with two flavors of whipped cream and styrofoam cups edged in white chocolate and sprinkles.  Even better?  These red and white sprinkles had a peppermint flavor.  Perfect for cocoa.

I hope your long weekend brought simple, delightful gatherings with friends as well.

  1. oh yes! what a fun idea – love the cups! even during this weird winter – this is such a cozy welcoming idea!

  2. That is a great idea. I love the sprinkles around the edge of the cup. I suppose one could use colored sugar as well. Peppermint and Elisha do not go well together. Oh the drama… lol!

Have a great day down there in Texas!

  3. Oh my gosh, Randi!!! I LOVE this idea! And it’s so pretty to look at, too…Pinning!

  4. I adore everything you do!! And when Emily is older I am going to stalk your blog for every idea under the book.

  5. This is so yummy and adorable! Great work!

  6. What a good idea to put white chocolate around the cups first. That way the sprinkles adhere way better! Very cool!

  7. This is so simple but so wonderful! I love it! And your pictures are great too! I’d love it if you linked this up to my party I’m having!

  8. I love the rimmed cups…
I’m hosting a LOVE theme linky party. Would love it if you came by and linked up!

  9. Can anyone tell me how to rim the cups with the sprinkles? Thanks!!!

I dip them into melted chocolate and then into the sprinkles. It’s best to stick them into the fridge until they’re set and then they’re ready to go!
