Our Spring Break Zoo Trip

Today was Day One of Spring Break so I loaded up the Fabulous Four and we took a mini road trip and headed to Gainesville, TX, to check out the Frank Buck Zoo. In honor of Frank’s birthday, admission today was a buck! They also handed out plastic animal rings and cupcakes as we walked through the gate. You can’t beat that. The weather held up for us and we had a great time, wandering around the small zoo, seeing animals up close, and feeding the goats in the petting zoo, as well as the giraffes.
The giraffe feeding was a highlight! Lila preferred to watch from a distance and only wanted to wave bye-bye to the giraffes at the end, but the other kids loved it! Luke squealed with delight throughout most of the feeding. Seeing those enormous tongues sticking through the fence was just funny!
We’ve wanted to check out the Frank Buck Zoo for a while and we’re so glad we did. A small zoo but definitely worth the visit.
I’ve started truncating my posts … please pop over to my blog to read the rest!
Randi Dukes About Randi Dukes

I’m Randi, a wife and stay-at-home mom of five kids, ranging from preschool to high school. I love strong coffee, craft and DIY projects, my planner, my laptop, and my big ol’ family. When I’m not creating something for my blog, I can be found in the car, running kids from one place to another. I’m the one knitting at the red light.

  1. You are such a good mommy. I hope you chronicle all of spring break!

The Zoo in Abilene (where my parents live) has a bridge that goes over the giraffe area. The giraffe’s come up to the bridge and stick their long, slimy tongues on the walkway to get food. It’s pretty yucky, but the kids love it!

  2. That’s exactly how this is! Very fun!

  3. Ooo, that looks like fun. I’ll have to take the kids over.

  4. I want to feed a giraffe! Better add it to my list. Got to love those boots Luke!

  5. That looks like so much fun! Victor has asked us repeatedly if he could PLEASE… feed a giraffe! I am going to show him the photo’s in the morning. He might start planning a trip south!
